1st March 2025: Odisha conducted a state-level mock exercise on chemical and industrial disaster management on Friday, covering 24 industrial sites across 16 districts. Organized with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the drill aimed to improve emergency response and coordination.
Industries followed their response protocols, while district administrations mobilized fire brigades and medical teams. Villages nearby were evacuated as a safety measure. The exercise involved officials from various sectors, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) deployed at key locations.
A debriefing session was held at the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), chaired by Additional Special Relief Commissioner Padmanav Behera.
