Bhubaneswar, May 27: In a focused effort to improve road safety, a high-level meeting was recently held in Bhubaneswar, chaired by Commerce and Transport Department Principal Secretary Usha Padhee, Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur, and IIT Madras road safety expert Venkatesh Balasubramanian.
The session reviewed ongoing initiatives and introduced key strategies aimed at reducing road accidents and encouraging safer driving habits across the state.
A major highlight was the upcoming launch of the Zero Accident Development (ZAD) programme, which is expected to be a game-changer in Odisha’s road safety landscape.
Additionally, the state will soon host a ‘Chintan Shibira’, a dedicated brainstorming event bringing together policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to develop actionable plans for road safety. The event, fully supported by the Odisha government, underscores the administration’s commitment to making the state’s roads safer for all.
