Odisha Govt Hikes DA by 2 Percentage for State Employees, Boosting Financial Relief

Bhubaneswar, 12th April 2025: In a welcome move for lakhs of state government employees and pensioners, the Odisha government has announced a 2% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA), increasing it from the existing 53% to 55%. This increase aims to provide financial respite amid the continued rise in inflation and cost of living.

The announcement was made as part of the state’s commitment to supporting its workforce and maintaining parity with the central government’s DA revisions. The revised DA will be applicable retrospectively, with employees expected to receive the increased amount in their upcoming salary disbursements.

This decision is likely to benefit over 4 lakh government employees and around 3 lakh pensioners across Odisha. The Dearness Allowance is a crucial component of a government employee’s salary, designed to offset the impact of inflation on their purchasing power.

Employees’ unions have welcomed the move, calling it a positive step toward welfare and economic stability for families dependent on government jobs. The hike also reflects the government’s recognition of its employees’ role in ensuring smooth administration and public service delivery.

With this revision, Odisha continues to align itself with best practices in employee welfare, offering a boost in morale and economic confidence to a significant portion of its population.
