Odisha Govt Reshuffles Senior IAS Officers; Suresh Vashishth Gets GAD, Sudhanshu Samal Named OMC CMD

Bhubaneswar, Sept. 8 (UDN): The Odisha government has carried out a significant reshuffle of senior IAS officers, assigning key administrative responsibilities to Suresh Kumar Vashishth, Sudhanshu Mohan Samal and Dr. Brunda D.

The changes were notified by the General Administration and Public Grievance (G&PG) Department through an order issued on September 7.

Vashishth takes charge of General Administration

Senior IAS officer Suresh Kumar Vashishth (1998 batch) has been appointed Principal Secretary of the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, one of the state’s most important administrative portfolios.

Vashishth was previously serving as Principal Secretary of the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Department while also handling additional responsibilities in the General Administration and Parliamentary Affairs departments. He will continue to hold the additional charge of Principal Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs Department.

Sudhanshu Mohan Samal elevated as OMC CMD

In another key appointment, Sudhanshu Mohan Samal (2010 batch) has been appointed Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) Ltd.

Samal, who has been serving as OMC’s Managing Director, will continue to hold the additional charge of Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Central Division), Cuttack alongside his new role.

Following his appointment, the additional charge of OMC Chairman held by IAS officer Girish S N will cease once Samal formally assumes office.

Dr. Brunda D assigned SSEPD Department

The government has also appointed Dr. Brunda D (2010 batch) as Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department.

Before the reshuffle, she was serving as Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) and also held additional charge as Chief Executive Officer of SHAS.

The appointments have been made by order of the Governor of Odisha and will take effect in accordance with the government notification.
