New Delhi/Bhubaneswar, 21 May 2025: The Central Government has allocated ₹830.85 crore to Odisha under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) for the current financial year. This funding aims to support the state’s goal of providing tap water to every rural household.

Currently, about 41.28% of rural households in Odisha — out of 85.67 lakh — have access to piped drinking water. The state government is accelerating efforts to extend this coverage to the remaining families.
In the previous year, Odisha received ₹812.15 crore under the same scheme. The state has also formed 3,695 Village Water and Sanitation Committees and developed 2,345 Village Action Plans to streamline implementation.
Efforts are ongoing to raise awareness, train 17,756 women in water quality testing, and ensure tap water in 67% of schools and 54% of Anganwadi centres.
To ensure transparency and accountability, the Central Government will deploy 100 nodal officers to monitor 183 projects across 135 districts, including 21 projects in Odisha.
The Jal Jeevan Mission, a flagship initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remains focused on ensuring ‘Har Ghar Jal’ (Water for Every Household) across the country.
