Odisha State Election Commission Introduces Four Colour-Coded Ballot Papers for Panchayat Elections to Ensure a Smooth and Error-Free Voting Process

Bhubaneswar, Aug 31 [UDN}:A major change has been introduced for the upcoming Panchayat elections in Odisha. Voters will use four different-coloured ballot papers for electing representatives at different levels.

Ward Member: Pink

Sarpanch: Blue

Panchayat Samiti Member: Yellow

Zilla Parishad Member: White

The Odisha State Election Commission has issued a notification regarding the new arrangement on August 19, which has also been published in the official Gazette.

The colour-coded ballot papers are expected to make it easier for voters to identify the ballot meant for each post and reduce confusion during polling, particularly because rural voters cast votes for multiple posts.

The development has also intensified discussions around the administrative preparations for the forthcoming Panchayat elections, with attention now turning to other election-related arrangements and announcements.
