Odisha to Enhance Police Force with Almost 10,000 New Posts in the Home Department

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has revealed plans to fill nearly 10,000 positions in the Home Department to further strengthen Odisha’s police force. Additionally, 2,416 vacant positions will be replaced by 2,584 new roles. The Chief Minister also announced that 5,000 positions for home guards will be filled.

The announcement came during the launch of 30 emergency response support vehicles as part of the ‘Emergency Response Support System (ERSS)’ initiative at the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police. ERSS is a central government program, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019 following the Nirbhaya case, designed to enable swift police action during emergencies.
