9th May 2025: Odisha is set to expand its air connectivity with the launch of direct flights from Bhubaneswar to Abu Dhabi and Visakhapatnam starting June 2025. This move, announced under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, marks a new phase in the state’s efforts to enhance regional and international travel options.

The new routes are expected to strengthen Odisha’s tourism potential, improve business links, and make travel more convenient for passengers. The Abu Dhabi service will provide a vital connection for the Odia diaspora in the Gulf region, while the Visakhapatnam route is anticipated to boost economic and cultural ties within eastern India.
Officials believe this step will not only improve passenger mobility but also support the state’s broader goals of economic development and integration with global networks. The initiative reflects the government’s continued focus on modern infrastructure and better transportation access.
