Odisha to Receive Multiple National Panchayat Awards 2024

Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: President Droupadi Murmu will present the National Panchayat Awards 2024 on December 11 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, recognizing exceptional rural governance across India. Odisha will be honored in seven categories for its notable contributions to community development and sustainable growth.

Key recognitions include the Healthy Panchayat Award for Keluapalli Gram Panchayat in Ganjam, acknowledging its impactful health programs. Sahapur Gram Panchayat, also in Ganjam, will receive the award for Self-Sufficient Infrastructure. Chhatrapur Block Panchayat in Ganjam will be recognized with the prestigious Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Puraskar for its governance and successful development projects.

Koraput district will be honored as the Best District Panchayat for its community-driven initiatives, while Sundargarh will be acknowledged for its innovative strategies. Kasira Gram Panchayat in Sundargarh will receive the Best Gram Panchayat Award for its community empowerment and sustainable energy work, and Kendrikela Gram Panchayat will be recognized for its carbon-neutral practices.

In addition, the State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (SIRD & PR) will be awarded the Best Panchayat Institution Award for its efforts in capacity-building and enhancing rural governance in Odisha.

These awards underscore Odisha’s commitment to rural development and local governance, setting an example for other states in promoting sustainable growth and community empowerment.
