Odisha to See Light Rainfall in Some Districts; No Heavy Rain Expected Till June 7

Bhubaneswar, May 31: The low-pressure system that had formed over the Bay of Bengal has significantly weakened and transformed into a regular pressure zone by Friday, resulting in scattered rainfall activity across parts of eastern India.

In Odisha, while a few districts witnessed brief spells of rain, most regions remained dry and experienced humid and cloudy conditions. The Regional Meteorological Centre has indicated the possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in a few locations on Saturday.

Districts such as Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, and Rayagada may see local showers. Wind speeds in these areas could range between 30 to 40 kmph, the forecast added.

Despite these developments, the weather department has made it clear that no significant rainfall activity is expected in the state from June 2 to June 7. This comes as a relief to farmers and residents preparing for the monsoon season.
