Kakatpur:11th Sept 2025: Concerns have been raised regarding the substandard construction quality of the Telikud Upper Primary School located in Abadan Chayata under Kakatpur Block. Villagers and the school management committee have alleged that the newly constructed classroom building—built at a cost of ₹10 lakh by the Kakatpur block administration—is of very poor quality.
According to the complaints, the contractor used low-grade cement and sand during the construction, compromising the structural integrity of the building. Moreover, the painting of the classroom walls was also done with inferior materials. Instead of the approved weather-proof coating, a low-quality cement-based paint was applied.
The villagers claim that the construction was done arbitrarily without proper oversight, raising serious concerns about safety and longevity. They have demanded that the District Collector of Puri immediately intervene and take necessary action to investigate and rectify the situation.
