Nabarangpur:April 09:The death anniversary of Laxman Nayak was observed today with due solemnity at the local Shaheed Laxman Nayak Government Primary School. Floral tributes were offered to his statue, followed by rituals, a memorial meeting, and a prize distribution ceremony.
The program, organized by the District Information and Public Relations Office, began at 9:30 AM. District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain attended as the chief guest. In his address, he recalled the heroic life, leadership, and active role of the martyr in the freedom struggle, and urged the younger generation to draw inspiration from his ideals.
Among the distinguished guests were Additional District Magistrate (General) Tapan Kumar Khutia, Municipality Chairperson Kunu Nayak, senior citizens Radhanath Behera and Manoranjan Tripathy, and keynote speaker Dr. Bijay Mishra. They highlighted the life, leadership, bravery, social justice, patriotism, and dedication of Laxman Nayak.
On this occasion, winners of speech and essay competitions conducted at upper primary and high school levels on the life of Laxman Nayak were awarded certificates and trophies by the guests.
District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Behera delivered the welcome address and conducted the program.
Several dignitaries, including senior citizens Narayan Panda, Hemalata Majhi, Manorama Majhi, District Welfare Officer Palaka Rabindra, Municipal Executive Officer Ashok Karsha, Additional Welfare Officer Bharat Chandra Sahu, Additional District Education Officer Srikant, and Nabarangpur College lecturer Sangita Tripathy, attended the event. Students, teachers, and media representatives also participated.
All attendees paid floral tribute to the statue of the great revolutionary and took part in the discussions. The event was supported by staff members of the District Information and Public Relations Office, including Dillip Kumar Mallik, Nilakantha Nayak, Bighnaraj Majhi, and Subrata Bishoyi.
