Plans Finalized for Stage Play Segment of Mandei Mahotsav-2025

Nabarangpur, 4th Nov 2025:  A crucial preparatory meeting for the ‘Stage Play’, one of the main attractions of the upcoming Mandei Mahotsav-2025, was held yesterday, 01.11.2025, at 5:30 PM in the Ashok Mehetta Conference Hall of the District Collector’s Office, organized by the Nabarangpur District Cultural Council.

The meeting, presided over by Mr. Tapan Kumar Khuntia, Additional District Magistrate (General) and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, decided that the stage drama program will be held at the Sadar Sub-Division Shastri Bhavan (Town Hall) from 3rd to 7th December 2025.

It was resolved that the dramas should focus on socially relevant themes such as child marriage prevention, women’s education, women’s empowerment, superstition, and drug abuse prevention, among others. All participants unanimously agreed that political and religious themes as well as political accusations or counter-allegations should be strictly avoided.

This year’s Stage Play Festival will be non-competitive, serving purely as a performance-based cultural showcase. Each participating drama troupe will be honored with a memento and awarded ₹5,000 as a performance grant.

Scripts must be submitted to the District Cultural Officer’s Office by 20.11.2025. The maximum duration for each play will be one hour (45 minutes of main performance), and each troupe can include up to 20 artists. The committee also emphasized that each block and municipality in the district should bring one play troupe to represent their area.

Among those present at the meeting were Additional District Magistrate Ashutosh Patra, District Cultural Officer Ghasia Harijan, and committee members Manoj Kumar Pattanayak, Jyoti Paricha, Jagannath Behera, Bulu Hota, Durga Prasad Padhy, Dillip Kumar Hota, Debadas Mahangud, G.V.V. Ravi Prasad, Durga Prasad Pradhan, Bikram Das, Alok Sahu, Phalguni Patra, Yugol Kishore Tripathy, Prabhasini Mohanty, and G. Prakash Samantaray, among others.

Special emphasis was laid on ensuring the technical quality of the event, including sound, lighting, and stage management at Shastri Bhavan. To ensure the smooth and successful organization of the festival, five sub-committees were formed, and responsibilities were assigned to their members.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from District Cultural Officer Ghasia Harijan to all attendees. The event was actively supported by Atmaprakash Sahu (Junior Assistant, District Cultural Office) and A. Santosh Kumar, along with other staff members.
