7th July 2025: At the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the session on ‘Peace and Security and Reform of Global Governance’, highlighting the growing importance of the Global South in shaping a fair and effective international order.

PM Modi emphasized the need for greater representation of developing nations in global institutions, noting that their inclusion is crucial for the credibility, legitimacy, and effectiveness of these bodies in addressing today’s challenges.

On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi held a productive meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The leaders discussed the progress in India-Malaysia bilateral relations, reaffirming Malaysia’s vital role in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR and Act East Policy.
Both sides expressed commitment to deepening cooperation across trade, connectivity, and strategic sectors.
