Rayagada: Aug 18 [UDN}:The 2nd Undivided District Powerlifting Championship was held at Gunupur in Rayagada district on August 14, 2026. Players from eight districts participated in the championship, with more than 200 athletes taking part in various events.
Under the guidance of former national-level gold medalist Bishikeshan Chhatriya and Pranaya Takri of Nabarangpur district, eight players from different panchayats of Tentulikhunti Block participated in the competition.
Among them, Rudra Narayan Suna secured second place in the 59 kg category, while Suramya Karkara of Tentulikhunti finished second in the Sub-Junior category. Anil Kumar Harijan of Kanta village won the gold medal in the 66 kg category. Bishikeshan Chhatriya of Khatiguda secured third place in the bench press event.
Their impressive performances brought pride and recognition to both Nabarangpur district and Tentulikhunti Block.
The players received financial assistance for participating in the championship from the Block BDO, GDP, Sarpanchs, millers, Deputy Collector, Sports Officer, and Babun Naik.
