Puri, July 7 {UDN}: In a major boost to rail connectivity in Odisha, the Puri–Koraput Express has been flagged off, establishing a direct rail link between the sacred Shreekhetra (Puri) and Shabar Shreekhetra (Koraput). The inaugural service was jointly flagged off by the Chief Minister and the Union Railway Minister.
The new train is expected to improve connectivity for pilgrims, tourists, students, and local residents while promoting cultural integration and regional development. It will also provide a convenient travel option between the coastal and southern parts of the state.
The initiative is seen as an important step toward strengthening Odisha’s transport infrastructure and boosting tourism and economic activities. The direct rail service will make travel easier, faster, and more accessible for thousands of passengers across the region.
