Bhubaneswar, March 28: With temperatures rising across the state, the Odisha government is planning to introduce morning school hours soon.
Even before the onset of April, the maximum temperature has already approached 40°C. In several places in western Odisha, the temperature has crossed 40°C. Keeping this in view, the state government is preparing a plan to shift schools to morning hours.
A high-level meeting involving officials of the School & Mass Education Department and the Revenue & Disaster Management Department will be held shortly. In the meeting, officials of both departments will hold detailed discussions on the prevailing heatwave conditions. A decision regarding the date from which morning classes will begin will be taken after reviewing the situation.
School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond stated that the department regularly holds meetings to review heatwave conditions and discuss when morning schools should commence. He informed that the meeting will be convened soon, and officials from the Revenue & Disaster Management Department will also attend.
The School & Mass Education Department has already made advance preparations in all schools to tackle the summer heat. Necessary guidelines in this regard have been issued, the Minister added.
