Balangir, Oct 27 [UDN}: A pharmacist at the Muribahal Community Health Centre in Odisha’s Balangir district successfully helped a pregnant woman deliver a baby girl inside an ambulance while she was being transported from Tengara village to the health facility.
According to the information available, pharmacist Pradeep Kumar Putel was accompanying the pregnant woman in the ambulance when her labour pain intensified midway through the journey. Recognising the urgency of the situation, he drew upon his experience and assisted the woman in delivering the baby safely inside the ambulance.
Following the delivery, both the mother and her newborn daughter were taken to the Muribahal Community Health Centre and admitted for medical care and observation.
The mother and the baby girl were reported to be in good health. The incident highlights the importance of the timely intervention, practical experience and presence of trained healthcare personnel during medical emergencies, particularly when complications arise while transporting patients from villages to healthcare facilities.
The safe delivery inside the moving ambulance ensured that the mother received immediate assistance when she needed it most, preventing a potentially difficult situation from escalating during the journey to the hospital.
