Residents Protest Prolonged Power Outage, Gherao TPWODL Office in Sundargarh

Sundargarh, June 30 (UDN): Frustration boiled over in Odisha’s Sundargarh district as residents of Dalki and Bhadarpur villages under Kuarmunda block staged a protest and gheraoed the TPWODL office over a prolonged power outage that has disrupted normal life for more than 20 days.

The extended electricity disruption has severely affected households, students, farmers, and small businesses, forcing residents to endure significant hardship. Despite repeated complaints to the power distribution company, locals alleged that the issue remained unresolved, prompting them to take to the streets in protest.

Demanding immediate restoration of electricity, protesters accused the utility provider of negligence and sought urgent intervention from the district administration. The demonstration witnessed widespread participation from affected villagers, who expressed their growing dissatisfaction over the lack of a timely response.

Officials assured the agitating residents that necessary steps would be taken to restore the power supply at the earliest. The exact reason behind the prolonged outage is yet to be officially clarified.

The incident highlights the critical importance of uninterrupted electricity supply in rural areas and the need for swift action to address essential public utility grievances.
