Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: A cyclonic circulation has formed over the central parts of the Malacca Sea. Its influence is active from the sea surface up to 5.8 km above sea level. Due to its impact, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal on Saturday. Thereafter, it will move west-northwestward. By the evening of the 24th, it may intensify into a depression over the central-south Bay of Bengal. Over the next 48 hours, it may continue moving west-northwestward and further intensify over the southwest Bay of Bengal.

How far its impact may extend over Odisha, in which direction it may move, and how much rainfall different districts of Odisha may receive—none of this has been clearly stated yet by the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre.
According to the forecasts of the Meteorological Department, after the formation of the low-pressure area on Saturday, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.
