Sachhi Karam Memorial Tournament Concludes; Ambedkar FC Emerge Victorious

Malakanagiri 1st Sept 2025:The Sachhi Karam Memorial Football Tournament was successfully held at Padia Block in Malkangiri District. The final match saw Ambedkar FC emerge as champions after defeating Chandra FC by a score of 4-2.

The tournament was inaugurated by Kalyan Biswas, the Block Chairman, who presided over the event. Other prominent guests included MD Faruk, the District Cricket Association President, CH Ravi Kumar, the BJD Block President, social worker N. Raghav Rao, and journalist K. Bhaskara Rao, along with Sanu Karsta from Chhattisgarh and Ganesh Bahini from Dornapal, among others.

Ambedkar FC was awarded ₹40,000 in cash along with a trophy, while Chandra FC received ₹30,000 in cash and a trophy for their efforts. The tournament was held in honor of Sachhi Karam, the late wife of the Sarpanch (village head) Shri Karam. Shri Karam organized this memorial football event in her memory.

The tournament, which began on the 18th of August, saw 8 teams from across the state and neighboring regions compete for the title. The games attracted a large crowd of spectators from both Odisha and neighboring states.

The tournament was officiated by Satveer Singh, former manager of the Indian Cricket Team, who served as the referee. The event saw daily attendance from football fans eager to watch the matches.

The organizing committee, led by Shri Karam and Editor T. Bichhem, ensured the smooth conduct of the tournament.
