Sanskrit Day Observed in District; High School Hosts Grand Ceremony

Malkangiri, 5th Sept 2025: Organized by Utkal Sanskrit Teachers’ Association, Odisha, with the support of the Malkangiri district administration, the district-level Sanskrit Day was celebrated with a grand ceremony at Malkangiri Government High School.

In the event, the chief guest was the respected District Education Officer, Mr. Chittaranjan Panigrahi, who expressed that Sanskrit is one of the oldest divine languages and the mother of many languages, and declared it a great language.

The keynote speaker was the Additional District Education Officer of Malkangiri, the honorable Ms. Matii Manjulata Bhoi, who emphasized that Sanskrit is a refined divine language, and Sanskrit teachers and educators are the protectors of our culture.

A special guest, Additional District Collector Hemanta Kumar Majhi, participated and gave a presentation on the importance of the Sanskrit language.

Honored guest and District Science Inspector Sharad Kumar Raut recited many Sanskrit shlokas and mentioned that he has been an exemplary Sanskrit scholar since his student days.

The principal teacher of the local school, Durga Madhab Padhi, also attended as a respected guest.

Senior Sanskrit teacher Karunakar Malik participated as an honored guest, highlighting the issues faced by Sanskrit language protection and teachers, and demanded urgent government intervention for their solutions. He stressed that the unity of teachers is our strength, and safeguarding and promoting the language is the responsibility of all of us. He also said that teachers should create their own identity.

The event was presided over by Pandit Godabari Dash, Southern Region Coordinator of the state, and edited by Pandit Sharad Kumar Dash, who performed Vedic chanting.

Senior teacher Kamal Sai Majhi welcomed the guests and introduced the dignitaries. Teachers and educators from across the district participated in this grand event.

Retired teacher Pandit Nityananda Panda and Chief Minister Award-winning teacher Sonirani Nayak were honored with the presentation of the Gita, shawls, and bouquets.

Finally, Pandit Sukumar Panda offered the vote of thanks.
