Rayagada, Sept 11 [UDN}:: A week-long Sanskrit Week was celebrated at Rayagada Autonomous College from August 25 with a series of educational and cultural programmes. The main objective of the event was to create awareness among students about the importance and antiquity of the Sanskrit language and its significant contribution to Indian knowledge, culture and traditions.
As part of the celebrations, banners featuring Sanskrit verses were displayed, while Sanskrit quiz competitions and Sanskrit verse-recitation programmes were also organised. Students participated enthusiastically in the quiz competition and demonstrated their knowledge of the Sanskrit language and India’s rich knowledge traditions.
At the valedictory ceremony, college principal Dr. Saraswati Ray said that Sanskrit is not merely an ancient language but also a rich repository of Indian knowledge, philosophy, literature, science and culture. PG Council Chairman P. Arun Kumar highlighted the vast scope of Sanskrit and its important role in India’s educational tradition.
Administrative Bursar T. Jyoti said that the study of Sanskrit language and literature contributes significantly to the intellectual development of students. Winners of the various competitions were felicitated by the guests.
The entire Sanskrit Week programme was organised under the coordination of A.V.B. Gupta and Tikeshwar Majhi. Tikeshwar Majhi conducted the stage proceedings, while Firoz Kumar Dandasena and Debashish Das assisted in managing the programme. Bhaskar Gupta proposed the vote of thanks.
