Severe Dust Storm Disrupts Flights in Delhi, Hundreds of Passengers Affected

New Delhi, April 12, 2025: A powerful dust storm accompanied by strong winds in Delhi on Friday evening caused significant disruption to flight operations, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at the airport. Several flights were delayed, and at least 15 flights had to be diverted from their scheduled destinations.

Airlines such as Air India and IndiGo issued advisories and updates for affected travelers. Many passengers expressed frustration over the long delays and lack of clear communication.

One passenger on an Air India flight shared, “We had a connecting flight from Srinagar to Mumbai via Delhi. Our flight was diverted to Chandigarh first and returned to Delhi at 11 PM. We were told we would be rebooked for Mumbai at noon, but by 4 AM, we were deboarded again and had to undergo fresh security checks. It’s 7 AM now, and we’re still waiting at the airport.”

Another elderly passenger, a 75-year-old woman in a wheelchair, said, “We’ve been stuck for over 12 hours. We couldn’t land earlier due to the storm, and now we’ve been waiting at the airport since 11 PM with little support.”

Flight services are expected to normalize once weather conditions improve. Authorities have advised travelers to check with their airlines before heading to the airport.
