Thunderstorms and Rain Likely Across Odisha in Coming Days

Bhubaneswar, April 12, 2025: The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a warning for possible thunderstorm activity across several parts of Odisha over the next 4–5 days. The forecast indicates Kalbaishakhi (pre-monsoon thunderstorms) accompanied by lightning, strong winds, and moderate rainfall.

On Saturday, districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Gajapati, and Ganjam are expected to experience winds of 50–60 km/h, prompting an Orange Warning, while a Yellow Warning has been issued for other regions.

In the last 36 hours, several areas have already received significant rainfall. Karanjia in Mayurbhanj recorded the highest at 68 mm, followed by Jeypore (50.2 mm), Nayagarh (48 mm), and Cuttack’s Kantapada (39 mm). Bhubaneswar received 22.8 mm of rain.

Despite the rain, temperatures remain high, with Balangir recording the state’s highest at 40.4°C and Titilagarh at 40°C.
