Bhubaneswar, Jan, 22: The number of polling booths in the state has been increased further.
An additional 7,000 polling booths have been created.
Earlier, there were about 36,000 booths, which has now been increased to nearly 43,000 booths.
Preparations have been underway for the implementation of SIR (Special Intensive Revision) in Odisha for the past five months.
Booth-level officers (BLOs) have been appointed at all polling booths.
The last time SIR was conducted in Odisha was in 2002.
Those whose names were included in the 2002 electoral roll do not require any correction.
However, the names of their sons and daughters will be added.
Those whose names were not included in the 2002 voter list will be required to submit certain documents.
