Kotpad, 16th Sept 2025: The State Executive Meeting of the Nishula Odisha Lawyers’ Association was held at the Kotpad Rest House. The meeting was presided over by Association President Gyanaranjan Mohanty. During the meeting, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced that the state government had accepted the proposals put forth by the lawyers. The legal community welcomed this move.
The Minister informed the representative group that a proposal for financial assistance of ₹9 lakhs per advocate under the welfare scheme is awaiting cabinet approval. This was shared during a press conference attended by President Gyanaranjan Mohanty, State President and senior advocate Biluprasad Tripathy, General Secretary Sanjeeb Mohanty, and other officials.
It was also informed that keeping the interests of the legal profession in view, the government will soon expedite the establishment of an Advocate Academy and the process for new notary appointments.
