Bhubaneswar, Feb, 18: In Odisha, a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list will be conducted. This process is set to begin from April, during which officials will go door to door. Prior to this, large-scale mapping between the 2002 SIR-time voter list and the 2025 voter list is underway across the state. So far, mapping of about 80% of voters has been completed. The target is to finish the voter mapping work by the end of this month.
At present, the exercise is being carried out in 12 states. Two forms will be filled for each voter based on their details. A five-tier verification system has been arranged — from booth level up to the state level — for proper scrutiny.
While the SIR process is ongoing, the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has advanced the procedure in Odisha. The CEO’s office has issued detailed information through advertisements regarding voter mapping. The last SIR in Odisha was conducted in 2002. Now, voters are being mapped by integrating the 2002 SIR voter list with the 2025 voter list.
