Supplementary Budget of Rs10,000 Crore Presented to Boost Ongoing Projects

Bhubaneswar,Nov 27: The Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will present the first supplementary budget for the financial year 2025-26 in the Legislative Assembly on 28th November. Prior to this, the Cabinet, chaired by the Chief Minister, has approved the supplementary budget today.

According to highly reliable sources, the size of the supplementary budget is expected to be around ₹10,000 crore.

Meanwhile, while examining the budget, the Chief Minister reviewed how much of the original departmental budgets had already been spent and identified areas where funds could not be fully utilized over the last eight months. He discussed with ministers which departments would require additional funds and how the supplementary allocation would be distributed.

Sources indicate that the first supplementary budget will mainly focus on Panchayati Raj and drinking water, commerce and transport, rural development, energy, and cooperative departments. The government aims to prioritize road infrastructure, basic public amenities, and paddy procurement, giving special attention to these five departments.

Similarly, after the Cabinet meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister, the state cabinet approved three proposals, making the appointment process easier. These include proposals from the General Administration and Public Grievances Department, primarily to resolve discrepancies and complications in certain appointments under the recruitment rules and to create new positions.

Following the Cabinet meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of General Administration and Public Grievances, Surendra Kumar, informed the media about these developments.
