The 1991-batch IPS officer, who retired in 2024, will head the newly formed commission responsible for uniform services recruitment in Odisha.

Bhubaneswar, March, 16:  Rashmiranjan Swain has been appointed as the Chairman of the Odisha Uniform Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC), becoming the first person to head the commission since its formation. His appointment marks a significant step in strengthening the recruitment process for uniformed services in the state.

Swain is the former Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu & Kashmir and a 1991-batch IPS officer. He retired from service in 2024 after a distinguished career spanning over three decades in law enforcement and intelligence.

With his vast administrative and policing experience, his leadership is expected to enhance transparency, efficiency, and credibility in the recruitment of personnel for various uniform services in Odisha. Officials believe that his expertise will help streamline selection procedures and ensure merit-based appointments.
