Thunderstorm Alert Issued for Nine Odisha Districts by IMD

Bhubaneswar, June 26 (UDN): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning predicting thunderstorm, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall in nine districts of Odisha over the next three hours.

According to the warning issued at 11:00 am, these weather conditions are very likely to occur at one or two places in the affected districts during the period.

The districts under the yellow warning include Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Angul, and Dhenkanal.

The IMD has advised residents in these areas to remain alert and closely monitor local weather conditions for any sudden changes or intensification of rainfall and storm activity.

People have been urged to take necessary precautions during the warning period, including avoiding open fields, hilltops, trees, and water bodies, and ensuring safety from lightning strikes.

The weather department said it will continue to monitor the evolving situation and issue further updates if required.
