Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Keonjhar, Kandhamal and Ganjam; IMD Advises Caution

Bhubaneswar, June 12: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds in parts of Odisha over the next two hours.

According to the latest nowcast issued at 12:20 pm, thunderstorm activity is very likely at one or two places over Keonjhar, Kandhamal, and Ganjam districts, with wind speeds expected to reach 40–50 kmph.

The weather system may also bring lightning activity and brief spells of rainfall in isolated areas during the warning period.

The IMD has advised residents in the affected districts to remain cautious and stay updated on weather developments. People have been urged to avoid open areas, take shelter in safe locations, and refrain from standing under trees or unstable structures during thunderstorm activity.

Authorities have also advised citizens to exercise caution while travelling and to follow safety instructions until weather conditions improve.
