Tourist Safety Gets Major Boost as State Government Introduces 12-Day Lifeguard Training in Puri; Interested Candidates Can Now Apply

Jharsuguda April 01:: To further strengthen the safety of tourists at various tourist spots and water bodies across the state, the Odisha Tourism Department has taken an important decision. A 12-day residential training and certification program is being organized for aspiring youth and existing local lifeguards at the Odisha Watermanship and Lifeguard Institute in Ramachandi, Puri district.
According to the guidelines issued by the Tourism Department, the main objective of this training is to prepare skilled lifeguards who can later be deployed at important water bodies across different districts to protect the lives of tourists and visitors.
For this program, youth with swimming skills and currently working local lifeguards will be selected. Preference will be given to those living near tourist spots or water bodies.
The application process is currently ongoing. Interested candidates are advised to immediately contact the offices of their District Tourism Officer or Assistant Director of Tourism.
The government has also instructed district officials to submit a list of suitable candidates within the next 10 days.
