Traditional Dance, Music, and Tribal Heritage Take Center Stage on the Fifth Day of Kandhamal Lok Mahotsav, Showcasing Rich Cultural Diversity of Kandhamal

Phulbani, April 15: On the 5th day 5of the Kandhamal Lok Mahotsav and Trade Fair 2026, Harabhanga Tahsildar Baladev Behera attended the evening program as the chief guest.
He expressed his best wishes for the success of the festival, which is organized to promote the art, culture, traditions, and trade of Kandhamal district. He also thanked the organizers for their efforts. Behera mentioned that he had attended the fair last year as well, and this year’s event is more beautiful and attractive compared to the previous one.
Similarly, the fair’s अध्यक्ष (President) and senior journalist Sunil Pattnaik attended as an honored guest and stated that the fair not only provides entertainment to the residents but also helps in boosting business activities.
Executive President Radhamohan Mohapatra delivered the vote of thanks. Among others who contributed to the event were Vice-President Sujit Behera, committee members Prasanna Kumar Swain, Mohammad Chishti, Sonush Kumar Behera, Anita Pattnaik, Subhra Pattnaik, Ranjit Behera, Shiva Nayak, and Khutis Malik.
The fair is being held for 12 days, from April 8 to April 19. Artists from the leading music institution “Gyan Academy” presented a variety of cultural programs, which were smoothly conducted by Suresh Kumar.
Cultural Secretary Ashok Mohanty and Joint Secretary Muskan Suar managed the stage proceedings.
More than a hundred stalls have been set up at the fair. A super market section and a special attraction—“Jal Pari Show” (Mermaid Show)—are major highlights. The fair remains open daily from 4 PM to 10 PM, as informed by Fair President Sunil Pattnaik.
