Traditional Fishing Gets Fresh Momentum Under Chief Minister’s Welfare Programme

Bhubaneswar,  June 13:  Chief Minister’s Fishermen Welfare Scheme has given a new direction to traditional fishing practices.

Under this scheme, fishermen operating fishing boats are being provided with modern engines. Fishermen receive subsidies ranging from 40% to 60% for the purchase of high-capacity OBM (Outboard Motor) engines and IBM/Inboard Motor engines. This innovative initiative of the Department of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development is making fishing operations easier and more efficient while helping strengthen the livelihoods of fishermen.
