Traditional Healers and Disaris Participate in Block-Level Conference Focused on Community Health and Indigenous Practices

Jeypore, April 03:  A block-level conference of village healers (Baids) and Disaris was organized today at Jayantigiri under Jeypore block in Koraput district.
On this occasion, free Ayurvedic treatment along with distribution of medicines was provided. Male and female traditional healers and Disaris from various villages of the block participated in the conference. The event was organized by the Koraput District Ayurvedic Development Council, which also conducted an awareness meeting on the promotion and spread of Ayurveda.
The conference was presided over by Secretary Kabiraj Parameswar Patra. Labour leader Bala Ray attended as the chief guest, while advocate Rajendra Kumar Gouda was the chief speaker. Madan Mohan Nayak attended as a special guest, and Chandrakanta Sutar joined as an honored guest. They discussed various issues faced by village healers and Disaris.
It was highlighted that village healers often work with a greater spirit of service than doctors, and there was a demand for the state government to provide them with financial assistance similar to an artist’s allowance. The council announced that it would present these demands to the government.
The program was managed by Jabhahar Jena, Shiva Keshab Das, Rabindra Pattnaik, Rajesh Kumar Gouda, Kali Charan Maharana, and Satya Narayan Sahu.
To strengthen the organization in the future, a block-level committee of village healers and Disaris was formed. The committee includes Raghunath Amanatya as President, Ramanath Pujari as Vice-President, Baladeb Gadaba as Secretary, Bishwanath Kumbhar as Joint Secretary, Gobandhan Gadaba as Treasurer, Kunu Gouda as Assistant Secretary, and Surya Bhatra and Sadashiv Amanatya as executive members.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Satya Narayan Parichha.
