Papadahandi, Jan, 24: A truck loaded with husk overturned after losing control. Two seriously injured persons were rescued by the police and fire services personnel and admitted to the Koraput Medical College and Hospital.
The accident occurred around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night. The truck, loaded with husk, was traveling from Borigumma in Koraput district towards Kesinga-Narsinghpur. Near Jag Jungle on the National Highway passing through Maidulpur, the driver lost control and the truck overturned.
Two persons were inside the vehicle at the time of the accident. The driver, Ramanath Sahu (name approximated from text), was trapped under the overturned truck. Police from Maidulpur and the Papadahandi Fire Department reached the spot and, with the help of a JCB machine, rescued the driver.
The other occupant, who sustained serious injuries, was first taken to Papadahandi Medical and later shifted to Koraput Medical College for further treatment.
