Rangpur, 21st Aug 2025: The residents of Dhan Dangari village under Makriya Panchayat of Papdahandi block in Nabarangpur district remain deprived of the government’s basic facilities. The villagers alleged that the absence of proper drainage and motorable roads has been causing them immense difficulties from time to time.
According to the villagers, road construction work had started in 2004, but to date, neither a proper road has been completed nor a drainage system has been built. Most of the internal roads are muddy and waterlogged. Due to lack of drainage, dirty wastewater overflows onto the paths, making it difficult for villagers to walk. During the rainy season, there is a looming threat of various diseases spreading.
Despite repeated complaints to the Sarpanch, no action has been taken, villagers said. The road from Dhan Dangari to Maliya (via RD road) is in very bad shape. The 7 km stretch is filled with potholes and remains incomplete, making daily travel extremely difficult for locals. This road is also a lifeline for residents of Jatabal and Makiya panchayats. Teachers and students, too, face hardships commuting to schools because of its condition.
Villagers including Rajendra Majhi, Mukunda Majhi, Dhaneswar Majhi, Tularam Majhi, Simanchal Majhi, Dhamru Bhatra, and Bhagaban Majhi demanded that the concerned department take immediate steps for repair and construction.
When contacted, Papdahandi BDO Kapildev Sahu assured, “I will personally visit the village in the coming days to review the situation.”
It remains to be seen what steps the administration will take after the issue comes to light.
