Kotpad, Sept 16 [UDN}:A legal workshop for advocates was organised on September 5, 2026, at the Civil Court complex in Kotpad, Koraput district, under the supervision of the Jeypore Seminar Committee. The programme brought together a large number of advocates and members of various Bar Associations from across Koraput and Nabarangpur districts.
The workshop was presided over by Kotpad Bar Association President Mani Prasad Patnaik. Justice Chittaranjan Dash of the Odisha High Court, who is serving as the Administrative Judge for the Koraput judgeship, attended the programme as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the workshop.
Addressing the gathering, Justice Chittaranjan Dash spoke extensively about professional ethics and morality in the legal profession. He urged advocates to uphold the dignity, integrity and ethical standards of the legal profession while discharging their responsibilities. He emphasised that adherence to professional ethics is essential for maintaining public confidence in the judiciary and ensuring the effective delivery of justice.
Several distinguished personalities associated with the legal fraternity attended the workshop as guests of honour. Among them were Odisha State Bar Council member Ramesh Patra and Vijay Kumar Ranjan Jena Deo, President of the Jeypore District Bar Association. Kotpad Bar Association Secretary Ajit Kumar Patnaik was also present. District and Sessions Court Magistrate Pradeep Kumar Mahanta, along with magistrates from different courts, attended the event as special guests.
More than a hundred advocates from Koraput and Nabarangpur districts participated in the workshop. Presidents, secretaries and members of several Bar Associations, including Umerkote, Nabarangpur, Kodanga, Jeypore, Borigumma and Koraput, were present and took part in the proceedings.
Former MLA Chandra Shekhar Majhi and several advocates, including Ajit Patnaik, Ganesh Acharya Panda, Pankaj Patra, Nimeshwari Patnaik, Pushpanjali Patnaik, Shankar Panda and Lingaraj Nayak, among others, were also present during the programme.
A special highlight of the seminar was the release of a book published by the Kotpad Bar Association. The book was formally unveiled by the chief guest, Justice Chittaranjan Dash, in the presence of other dignitaries and members of the legal fraternity. The initiative was appreciated by the participants, who praised the Kotpad Bar Association for taking steps to promote legal knowledge and professional development among advocates.
The workshop provided an important platform for legal professionals from different parts of southern Odisha to interact, exchange views and discuss issues concerning professional conduct, ethics and the responsibilities of advocates.
