AI-Based “Masika Care” Platform Launched to Support Menstrual and Maternal Health in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, June 27 (UDN): Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling on Friday launched an AI and machine learning-based digital health platform, “Masika Care,” designed to provide menstrual health tracking, personalised insights, and awareness support for women.

The platform was developed as a collaborative initiative by students of BPUT and VIMSAR in consultation with medical experts. It was formally launched at Nagaon (B) in Balangir district alongside a menstrual health awareness campaign aimed at improving education and reducing stigma around menstrual health.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the initiative would play an important role in addressing health challenges faced by adolescent girls and women by promoting awareness and breaking long-standing social taboos, stigma, and misinformation related to menstruation.

He added that the integration of data-driven and AI-enabled solutions into healthcare delivery would strengthen women’s health services and improve early awareness and monitoring systems.

According to developers, “Masika Care” uses a machine learning-based model to analyse biological patterns and provide real-time menstrual health tracking along with personalised health insights. The platform is designed to support users with predictive health guidance and monitoring tools.

The application also includes dedicated modules for maternal health and infant care, aimed at assisting expectant mothers with continuous health tracking and guidance.

To ensure wider accessibility, the platform has been developed in multiple languages, including rural dialects, making it more inclusive and usable for women in rural and underserved communities.

Officials said the initiative aligns with broader national and state development goals focused on digital health innovation and women’s empowerment.
