Jharsuguda, March, 2:: UndMarch, 2:er the Jharsuguda Forest Division, a one-day cricket tournament was organized at Banki playground in the Bagdihi forest range to promote forest fire prevention and awareness. The event was conducted under the supervision of Forest Range Officer Dr. Bandana Pasayat.
A total of eight teams from the Bagdihi forest area participated in the tournament — Banki, Forest Eleven, Bargarh, Kuarmal, Kadobahal, Bhaunra, Bhimjor, and Dhengurjor. Local village teams actively took part in the competition. Bhimjor emerged as the winner, while Kuarmal secured the runner-up position.
The chief guest of the event was Manmohan Sanjit Kumar Naik, a member and Sarpanch of Buchipidi under Laikera Block. Among the distinguished guests present were Kirmira Tehsildar Sanjeeb Kulu, Manoj Kumar Budula, social worker Deepak Raut, Revenue Supervisor Saroj Sa, and other committee members.
During the program, all young players and villagers of Banki were made aware of measures to prevent forest fires in the forests under the Bagdihi range this year. A pledge was administered: “Let us all come together to protect our forests from fire.”
The program was supported by Forest Range Officer Bandana Pasayat along with Bagdihi Forester Murari Prasad Sahu, Amir Patel, Forester Panigrahi, and all the staff of the Bagdihi forest range. Forest Guard Rajkishore also extended cooperation.
