Belaguntha Prepares for Jagannath Rath Yatra as Puri Sends Traditional Chariot Construction Materials

Belaguntha,July 1 {UDN}: In a significant gesture ahead of the annual Rath Yatra, the administration of the Jagannath Temple in Puri has provided essential chariot materials for the deities worshipped at Triveni Sangam in Benipalli Panchayat under Belaguntha Block.

For the first time in 34 years, a grand chariot has been constructed for Lord Jagannath at Triveni Sangam to celebrate the sacred Sri Gundicha Yatra. To complete the chariot, Benipalli Sarpanch Durgamadhab Nayak had requested the Puri Shri Jagannath Temple Administration to provide sacred chariot wood, a ceremonial flag, and Nirmalya (holy offerings).

Responding to the request, the temple administration supplied the required chariot wood, ceremonial flags, and Nirmalya for Lord Jagannath’s chariot at Triveni Ashram and for the newly built chariot of Lord Gopinath at Benipalli. The sacred items were received by Swasti Sundar Sia and handed over to the respective temples.

Expressing gratitude, Mahant Chidananda Swami Maharaj of Triveni Ashram and Madan Das thanked the Puri Jagannath Temple Administration for its support.

The arrival of the sacred materials has brought joy to the people of Madhabarida and Benipalli, with local residents preparing to celebrate this year’s Rath Yatra on a grand scale. Youth volunteers, including Srikanu Dakua, Krushna Chandra Pattnaik, Manoj, Kahnu, Niranjan, Suresh, Mrutyunjaya, and others, have been actively contributing to the preparations for the festival.
