Bhubaneswar Strengthens Public Hygiene Drive with 30 New Urinals, 200 More in Pipeline

July 15 (UDN): In a major push towards improving urban sanitation, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has inaugurated 30 new public urinal facilities at important locations across the city, aiming to make public spaces cleaner and more convenient for citizens.

The newly launched facilities are part of BMC’s ambitious plan to develop over 200 public urinals across Bhubaneswar’s three administrative zones. The initiative is designed to strengthen basic sanitation infrastructure and address the need for accessible public amenities in crowded areas.

The new facilities have been installed at busy locations, including markets, transport points, and public spaces such as Unit-I Market, Rasulgarh Bus Stand, Bapuji Nagar, AG Square Park, Baramunda, Nayapalli, ID Market, Priyadarshini Market, Khandagiri, Sriya Talkies, and N-3 Park, among others.

BMC officials said the facilities will provide citizens with safe and hygienic options while helping reduce open urination in public areas. The move is expected to contribute to cleaner streets and a healthier urban environment.

The newly inaugurated urinals will be available free of cost and will remain open from 6 AM to 10 PM every day, ensuring easy access for commuters, shoppers, and residents.

The civic body said the expansion of sanitation facilities is part of its broader commitment to creating a cleaner, more organised, and citizen-friendly Bhubaneswar.

As the city continues to grow, initiatives like these aim to ensure that public infrastructure keeps pace with the needs of its people, making everyday life more comfortable and dignified for all.
