Bhubaneswar, May 04: The Chief Minister of Odisha inaugurated 76 veterinary hospitals and 4 animal help centres built at a cost of around rs100 crore. He also announced an ambitious goal to make Odisha rank 5th in the country in egg production by 2047.
Emphasizing farmers’ welfare, the Chief Minister stated that traditional farming alone is not sufficient to increase income. He highlighted the importance of allied agricultural activities such as fisheries, dairy farming, poultry, and goat/sheep rearing. The aim, he said, is not just to double farmers’ income but to multiply it significantly.
In addition, projects worth rs50 crore were inaugurated, including a fish landing centre at Kasia in Bhadrak and the modernization of the fishing harbour at Dhamra.
These initiatives are expected to strengthen rural livelihoods, boost the livestock and fisheries sectors, and enhance overall agricultural productivity in the state.
