Biofloc Technology Revolutionising Aquaculture Sector with Sustainable, Cost-Effective and High-Yield Fish Farming Practices

In conventional fish farming systems, fish excreta, uneaten feed, and other organic wastes accumulate in the pond or tank over time. As a result, the water quality deteriorates, leading to increased levels of harmful substances such as ammonia and nitrites. To maintain a healthy environment for fish growth, farmers are often required to replace a substantial portion of the water regularly. Since the waste generated by the fish is continuously recycled within the system through microbial activity, the requirement for fresh water is drastically reduced. Farmers typically add carbon-rich materials such as molasses, jaggery, wheat flour, or rice bran to stimulate the growth of beneficial bacteria.
