Jharsuguda, March, 11:Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Amit Shah, inaugurated 141 modern paddy procurement mandis.
The programme was held in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Built at an estimated cost of approximately ₹72.17 crore, these projects will provide significant support to farmers in paddy procurement and storage.
Jharsuguda district has played an important role in this initiative. Notably, seven Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) in the district have been included under this modernization scheme, which will directly benefit local farmers.
These modern paddy mandis are equipped with improved warehouse facilities, better management systems, and essential amenities for farmers.
On March 6, 2026, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated the necessary infrastructure for paddy procurement centres under seven PACS in Jharsuguda district.
This innovative initiative will make the paddy procurement process in the district more organized and efficient. With the development of new infrastructure at these PACS, storage capacity and management efficiency will improve significantly.
To ensure that farmers do not face difficulties during the sale of paddy, advanced technical facilities and proper storage arrangements have been made at these centres.
The projects inaugurated by Minister Amit Shah are expected to give a new direction to the cooperative system in the district. Besides simplifying the procurement process, they will also play a major role in strengthening the rural economy.
The district administration and the Cooperation Department have emphasized proper maintenance and maximum utilization of the infrastructure. Senior officials of the district administration, staff of the Cooperation Department, and a large number of stakeholders were present at the programme.
