Centre Announces 3 Percent DA Increase for Government Employees

Delhi,  Nov  2 (UDN):   The Union Cabinet has approved a 3-percentage-point increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees, raising it from 60% to 63% of basic pay. The corresponding Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners has also been increased by 3 percentage points, effective from July 1, 2026. Press Information Bureau +1

* The previous DA hike of 2 percentage points was approved in April 2026.

* The government revises DA twice a year, generally in January and July, based on inflation data.

* The latest increase is expected to benefit approximately 48.54 lakh central government employees and 68.71 lakh pensioners. Press Information Bureau +1
