Jeypore, March 31: The festival of Ram Navami, observed on Chaitra Shukla Navami, was celebrated with great grandeur in Damanjodi. The main attraction of the celebrations was the حضور of Vishweshwar Chandrachud Dev, the King of Jeypore.
At Magurti Mandap in Sector-1, Ramcharitmanas recitations had been ongoing for the past nine days, concluding on Navami with the final rituals. Various religious programs such as recitations, discourses, Hanuman Yajna, Chandi Yajna, and the ceremonial marriage of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita were organized during this period.
On the day of Navami, a massive procession was organized by the Mahavir Yuvak Sangh, which paraded through the town. The procession featured more than 50 Sankirtan groups, Aghori dance performances, traditional musical instruments, and enthusiastic participation of devotees dancing to rhythmic beats.
The presence of the Jeypore King, Vishweshwar Chandrachud Dev, drew huge crowds eager to catch a glimpse of him. The procession began from the Sri Ram Temple at Mathalput, moved across the town, passed through Abhaya Anjaneya Temple, and concluded near Maruti Mandap.
More than 50,000 people, including men, women, and children from Damanjodi and nearby areas, participated in the procession, immersing themselves in devotion to Lord Rama.
The entire area was decorated with saffron flags by the Mahavir Yuvak Sangh. Large images of Lord Rama were displayed at various junctions. Women welcomed the procession by placing ceremonial pots (kalash) and showering flowers, while different organizations distributed pana (a traditional drink) and refreshments at various points.
The entire region was filled with devotion and festivity. Notably, this grand procession is organized every year on Ram Navami by the Mahavir Yuvak Sangh, featuring attractive performances and cultural displays from across the state and beyond.
