Death Toll Rises to 11 in SCB Trauma Care ICU Fire Incident; State Government Announces Rs25 Lakh Ex-Gratia for Each Victim’s Family

Bhubaneswar, March, 18:  In the tragic fire incident at the Trauma Care ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, the death toll has risen to 11. The Chief Minister visited SCB in Cuttack and reviewed the situation.

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh for the families of the deceased. He has also ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident. Further action will be taken after the investigation report is submitted.

The Chief Minister has directed the Director General of Fire Services to oversee the investigation. He stated that the massive fire may have been caused due to an electrical short circuit.
The President of India has expressed grief over the fire incident at SCB Medical College in Cuttack.  

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased.

BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik also expressed grief over the Cuttack SCB fire tragedy.
