Bhubaneswar, July 28 UDN}: A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is steadily moving towards the coastal region and is expected to make landfall by this morning. Under its influence, several parts of Odisha, particularly the northern districts, are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. The weather system is expected to bring widespread rain, accompanied by strong winds and rough weather conditions in coastal areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of intense rainfall in northern Odisha as the deep depression approaches the coast. Several districts may witness spells of heavy rain, while some areas could receive very heavy downpours over the next few hours. Residents in low-lying and vulnerable areas have been advised to remain cautious as continuous rainfall may lead to waterlogging and localized flooding.
The approaching weather system is also likely to affect normal life in coastal and northern parts of the state. Fishermen have been advised to remain away from the sea due to rough conditions and strong winds. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have been asked to take necessary precautionary measures in areas that could be affected by heavy rainfall.
As the system moves closer to land, weather conditions are expected to deteriorate further in parts of Odisha. People are advised to follow official weather updates and warnings issued by the authorities and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall. The possibility of waterlogging, disruption to road communication and localized flooding cannot be ruled out in areas that receive exceptionally heavy rainfall.
